Redesign of existing Sapporo Beer Packaging. In addition to new packaging, magazine advertisements were also created. Packaging is meant to bring a feeling of sophistication to the brand, as well as point towards its Japanese heritage.
The problem was to create an aesthetic that was appealing to North American audiences, while being respectful of the product's Japanese heritage.
The solution was to use classic Japanese minimalism to arrange all the elements in the identity. Japanese type is displayed vertically, while English type is set horizontally. On the side of the can, there is also an illustration of a mountain range that is just outside of Sapporo Japan. This keeps the product close to its roots and maintains the minimalist Japanese aesthetic.
